Social networking can be used several ways. For example, you can use social media to search for people, to see their interests, as well as pictures and videos of their personal life. This can be done through apps such as Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram. For example, in the article “Facebook search: Facebook adding search feature,” Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, created a feature that allows users to search for people and places within the social network. This is a positive thing because it allows us to decide what content is related to what we desire. Thus, it further addresses privacy concerns, which is a very big issue in the world. Another positive thing about social media is the fact that you can search for jobs and see what’s available in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. This can be done through websites such as Craigslist, indeed, Glassdoor, and others. For example, in the article, “Social Networking Technology Boosts job recruiting,” recruiters use Facebook and even Myspace to address their company needs by looking for potential candidates. Thus, this helps one look for all kinds of people that may not be otherwise capable of locating. This is a simple, yet efficient way of screening and recruiting. On the contrary, social media has its downsides as well. For example, too much information being out there. Sometimes, you just don’t want everyone to see everything that you are doing on a day to day basis. For example, in the article, “Facebook Privacy Is So confusing Even the Zuckerberg Family Photo isn’t Private,” Marks sister posted a photo for her friends on Facebook, and somehow it got to a random person who reposted it on twitter, which ultimately led to a series of back and forth tweets from Marks sister and the stranger until she agreed to remove the picture. The fact that you cant hide stuff from people is uncomfortable and annoying, but that’s the reality that we are all in right now. I believe that in the future, technology will just continue to evolve. I believe virtual reality will have a big part in this, as we will be able to call someone in another country and see him in our living room.
