File sharing involves sending or allowing access to programs and documents such as Microsoft word essays. This is common in service applications such as Dropbox and Google Drive. P2P file sharing involves sharing digital media such as books, music, and movies through connecting to another computer that is connected to P2P network. An example of P2P file sharing is an application called Lending Club, as discussed in the article, “Peers Find Less Pressure Borrowing From Each Other.” The article discusses how Lending Club gets borrowers and lenders together outside the conventional banking system. This is popular among people who struggle to find loans through a bank or prefer not to because of a high interest rate that comes with the loan.

There are several issues regarding privacy and confidentiality related to new media. For example, when you log in to applications such as Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, etc., you agree to have all your information available to them. All the private messages you send your friends, the pictures, photos, and more, are all available to the owners of the application and can also be obtained to the public via hack. Snapchat has done something new with their application in the past week. Through snapchat, you can check the exact location of all your friends. That is a little weird and scary because I can just log onto the account and see exactly where everybody is. The world is transforming at a rapid pace and nothing we do online is private. Now, going back to the previous matter. Nothing you do is confidential, as previously stated and can be accessed by the company.
